The recently formed Lisbon Epidemiology Consortium (CEL) has been formed by the University of Lisbon (UL) and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) to develop integrative approaches to epidemiology research, training and practice. Funded by a grant from the Portuguese Ministry of Science and complemented by funds from the European Commission, CEL invites applications for 7 positions:

1. Theoretical Epidemiology
2. Evolutionary Biology
3. Clinical Epidemiology
4. Biomedical Informatics
5. Statistical Physics
6. Statistical Epidemiology
7. Project Manager

The post holders will have the opportunity to initiate their own research projects while contributing to the establishment of solid bonds between the two institutions. There are no teaching obligations, but there will be opportunities to contribute to graduate education. The post holders will be hosted by 5 research units as to better explore the potential for collaborative links:

• Centro de Matemática e Aplicações Fundamentais (CMAF-UL) – posts 1 and 2;
• Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM-UL) – posts 3 and 4;
• Centro de Física Teórica e Computacional (CFTC-UL) – post 5;
• Centro de Estatística e Aplicações (CEA-UL) – post 6;
• Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) – post 7.

Applicants should hold a PhD and demonstrate interdisciplinary interests and managerial skills. Candidates to posts 1-6 should show additional evidence of independent research and significant scientific accomplishments.
